My Love for Old-School Music

I’ve always liked music, but at some point, I started missing a different vibe in my playlist.

New songs felt kind of the same. Then one day, a Stevie Wonder track popped up on a random TikTok video, and it instantly hit me.

I searched for the full song, and the next thing I knew, I was deep into Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, The Supremes…

It felt like opening a time capsule — listening to old songs for free became my new obsession.

I couldn’t believe how powerful and timeless those lyrics and melodies still felt.

I Had to Spice Up My Boring Tasks

Washing dishes, folding laundry, organizing files… everything was getting way too dull.

So I threw on a playlist with some Elvis and Carole King while cleaning my room — and boom, everything changed.

The chores became lighter, almost fun. It felt like I had discovered a little hack for daily life.

Now it’s part of my routine: classic soul, R&B or rock playing while I knock out the to-do list.

What used to drag me down now kind of lifts me up.

How I Found the Right Apps

When I realized I needed a better setup for my throwback soundtrack, I went looking for ways to listen to old songs for free — without endless YouTube ads or buffering.

Radio Garden

That’s when I found Radio Garden, where you can tune into radio stations from all over the world — including some that only play oldies.

You spin a virtual globe, click on any city, and listen to local radio stations — many with oldies and classics.

iHeartRadio

Then I found iHeartRadio, which has tons of ‘70s and ‘80s stations with everything from disco to classic rock.

iHeartRadio is a free app with thousands of radio stations.

It has channels dedicated to oldies, like Motown and 90s, all in real time.

Even in Line at the Bank, I’m Jamming

Just the other day, I was stuck in a never-ending bank line, and people around me were visibly annoyed.

I popped in my earbuds, hit play on a Motown mix, and suddenly I didn’t even care about the wait.

When Ain’t No Mountain High Enough came on, I had to stop myself from singing out loud.

Now it’s my thing. Grocery store? Music. Waiting room? Music. Long drive? Definitely music.

If you haven’t tried listening to old songs for free yet, you’re seriously missing out on a simple joy that makes everything feel better.
